Almourol is a very beautiful and peaceful place. There, we can enjoy the silence and the tranquil flow of the river.
It is very difficult to get there, so few people know it. It is situated in the centre of Portugal, in a small island of the Tagus.
Its building still isn’t dated, but it is certain that it already existed in 1129. It was used by the Templar Knights during the Reconquista war.
Still, History isn’t what we were looking for when we went there. Instead of it, the beauty of the landscape, the stunning walls… It’s like a journey in time.

  1. Uncle Tree Says:

I want to see a few ancient castles sooo bad, it makes me sad.
This one looks pretty cool, hidden away from civilization as it is.

To be able to nobly serve a Queen…it must have been a glorious
job, a bit dangerous perhaps, but holding so much purpose,
and giving meaning to one’s paltry existence back in the day.

Thanks for the trip! Sir Forestry

  2. Sir Uncle Tree, you almost sounded like Sir Lancelot speaking. I love Chivalry novels. Thank you for your comment.
